UPDATED for 2024
The Move to Mexico Bible Edition is updated each January and more often, if needed, to reflect current policies in Mexico. The most recent update was January 2024.
It is available at many online bookstores in eBook, Kobo, Kindle, and paperback formats. There are links at the bottom of the page to online sources for purchasing.
So, you’re thinking about trying out Mexico? Good for you. Where will you live? Mexico is a big country and living in Tulum is nothing like living in Mexico City—and neither is anything like living in Puerto Vallarta. The food is different, the culture is different, the weather is different. It’s an incredible country with many unique living experiences to choose from.
And there are other questions. What will you do for medical insurance? Will you be bringing your vehicle and pets? Are you allowed to own property in Mexico? How do you handle paying utilities? Can you transfer money online easily? How long can you stay? Will you have to pay taxes? Do you have enough money to live there?
The Move to Mexico Bible takes a look at 33 different cities and towns—from expat populations to climate and conveniences. With over 100 photos and illustrations, this book will also walk you through the visa process and give you invaluable advice about healthcare, household help, communications, real estate and other variables. Don’t leave home without it!
We are grateful to all the kind people who have left such wonderful reviews for our book!
Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2023 Concise, clear, and comprehensive overview
I bought two books to read about a potential move to Mexico, this one and another by a more well known popular author, it was full of political views and did not have any real information.Sonia’s book is top notch, very well organized, the facts and things to consider flow very well which makes it easy to read.I had mine spiral bound at a local copy shop to make reading, highlighting and note taking easier.
After reading this book, I truly believe I can move to Mexico and feel as though I am armed with all of the information I need to transition smoothly if I do my homework and follow the excellent advice of the authors.
Thank you for your hard work that will help make my move so much easier. Rebecca M. December 29, 2022
The second half of the book is GOLD. If you’re like me you’ve been researching places and already made a decision on where… it’s the HOW that has you curled up in a bundle of anxiety. The first half of the book is all about the best towns/cities to live. The second half gets you there. I kept reading, and watching, all these conflicting things and my local consulate was mostly unresponsive to answer questions. This book filled in those gaps and made me feel very secure in my plan of action. HIGHLY recommended!! Sor4rtemis December 19, 2022
“This book is like an encyclopedia for those of us who are moving to Mexico and need guidance. I have used it extensively to research all of the places I’m interested in living… everything from weather to food and cost of living, culture, visa applications and Spanish language skills needed. I’ll be taking my “Bible” with me when I move.” – Anna, December 2021
“I have ordered 4 different books in the last six months to get prepared for our move to Mexico. ‘The Move to Mexico Bible’ is the book I have wanted all along. I wish I had read it first. It’s so very informative and useful. Every single chapter gave me important information. It’s very up-to-date. It offers practical advice regarding visas, household help, housing, etc.; everything! This is a book that lives up to its name. Thank you Sonia Diaz & Beverley Wood for writing this book; it will remain within reach on my kitchen counter until the day we make the move…” – LLD, October, 2021
